Unlocking the Power of Entrepreneurial Minds: The Benefits of “Entrepreneurial ADD”

Unlocking the Power of Entrepreneurial Minds: The Advantages

Entrepreneur ADD

“Entrepreneur ADD” is something all business owners and visionaries have to deal with. Here are 4 great traits you probably possess that you can leverage for success:

  • The ability to multitask effectively. You may struggle to focus on one thing for an extended period, but you excel at handling multiple tasks simultaneously. This aptitude for juggling numerous responsibilities is a valuable asset for entrepreneurs, who often face a myriad of challenges and responsibilities on a daily basis.

  • The inherent creativity that you bring to the table. As a visionary, your mind is wired to think outside the box, make connections and find innovative solutions. This creativity can fuel entrepreneurial endeavors and lead to unique business strategies that stand out in competitive markets.

  • The ability to hyperfocus.  While you may struggle with sustained attention, you possess the ability to hyperfocus on tasks that captivate your interest (might we call this “flow state”?). This hyperfocus can result in heightened productivity and exceptional results when channeled effectively.

  • High levels of passion and enthusiasm. Your passion and enthusiasm can drive you to persistently pursue goals, push boundaries, and overcome obstacles along the way. This resolute determination is a key characteristic of successful entrepreneurs.

But, you already knew you have all those great traits! The question is, how do you balance them with the everyday monotony of running a business (it’s not always so glamorous, is it?). Here are a couple of lifestyle tips to manage "Entrepreneur ADD”:

  • Create a vision board. Write down your yearly and quarterly goals and put them somewhere you can see them from your workspace. When new shiny ideas pop up, review your goals and ask “Does this benefit my goal?” – Yes? Proceed. No? Write the idea down and file it for future reference.

  • Break your main goals down into subgoals. Feelings of overwhelm can destroy your forward momentum. Focusing on small subgoals allows you to focus on individual tasks versus seeing a large mountain of work. Make sure your subgoals are aligned with your main goal. Then you will always feel like you’re making progress. A simple checklist or a project management platform, such as Asana, are great tools for this.

  • Make a list of tasks to accomplish each day. The key here is to prioritize the items, making sure you're not trying to complete too many tasks. Ask yourself: What needs to get done today and what can wait? Be honest with yourself! It can’t all happen in one day and if you try, you are setting yourself up for failure. Limiting your tasks to 3 leaves plenty of time to deal with last-minute demands, but also allows you to feel accomplished at the end of the day.

  • Set up a system to organize and file information (appointments, deadlines, notes, or ideas). You can do this on your electronic devices, as well as paper documents. The trick here is choosing a system that works for you and getting in the habit of using it consistently.

  • Create and follow a consistent routine. We love consistency! Not only for work-related items but personal as well. For instance, create daily time blocks on your calendar for focus work, keep day-to-day items, such as your keys and your wallet, in the same place, take your lunch at the same time, and end your work day at a specific time.

  • Ask for help from your support system. Don’t put pressure on yourself to remember and do everything on your own. Utilize the team of people around you.

In Summary: At RCVA, we celebrate the diversity and unique strengths of entrepreneurs. We encourage entrepreneurs to unleash their full potential by harnessing their strengths AND weaknesses.
